To qualify for GitHub student benefits, User must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a degree or diploma granting course of study such as a high school, secondary school, college, university, homeschool, or similar educational institution
  • Have a verifiable school-issued email address or upload documents that prove your current student status
  • Have a GitHub user account
To apply for the GitHub Student Benefits
First, go to the Email Settings of your GitHub user account and add the email address given by your institution. For me it is 180631j@uom.lk. So I have used it for the demonstration.
Then go to GitHub Education for Students.
Then click Get benefits for students and you will be directed to the student application for the request, where you need to provide few details.
Finally Verify your application details and click Submit your information.

If your application is approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Applications are usually processed within a few days, but it may take longer during peak times, such as during the start of a new semester. In addition to the confirmation email you will receive some other emails which guide you how to use the Student Developer Pack and your GitHub account will be automatically upgraded to the GitHub Pro Version. That’s it.
